Jennie Garabedian

In the pursuit of passing down knowledge of her Armenian ancestors to her nieces, nephews, and future family great nieces and nephews, Jennie journaled everything she could remember about her family trees. While she never married, her brother and sister had children of their own that it could be passed down onto. While Jennie's family has started to become more Americanized, this document can provide that knowledge to keep passing down in the future.

"And I thought their children might wanna know a little bit more about our family. We've now become very Americanized. Everybody has married non-Armenians and so forth. I thought it would be good for them to know a little bit more about our background."

Along with the family tree, Jennie included her mother's story and any other family backgrounds or relations that she could recall.

"It is my mother's story. As much of it as I knew, there's family background in here, our own family tree, how we're related to certain other people in the area and so forth. And then coming to America, how my father found her in Aleppo. The whole family story, as much as I could remember."

This gives Jennie's future descendants the opportunity to look back on their Armenian family's identity, letting them be able to connect deeper with their ancestors.
